As a member of both MaNap and RIPE, Metronet provides organisations with uniquely cost effective, high quality, business class High Speed Internet access, ranging from 1 Mbps to 1 Gbps. With Metronet, you can guarantee that your users will benefit from very fast response times when accessing, and using broadband Internet services.

Unlike more consumer oriented ADSL and SDSL services, Metronet provides true 1:1 contention across all its private circuits (equivalent to BT LES 10 / LES 100 / LES 1000 private circuits). Simply put, your high speed Internet access will not be shared with, or compromised by, other users; and because Metronet’s High Speed Internet Access is fully symmetrical, you will benefit from equal levels of performance whether uploading or downloading data from the Internet.

Metronet’s High Speed Internet Access service is presented at your premises using a standard Ethernet interface, ensuring immediate compatibility with your existing communications and/or computer equipment. Importantly, Metronet’s High Speed Internet Access is installed and fully operational within 5 working days of receipt of your order, enabling you to immediately reap the benefits of your private circuit service.

Once connected, Quality of Service is assured through Metronet’s direct access to the Internet through its close working strategic partnership with Telecity (Kilburn House and Williams House), IFL (Reynolds House) and NWIX. Other so called independent high speed Internet Access providers almost invariably depend upon BT or another third party ISP.

Reliability & Security

Metronet offers a standard Service Level Agreement that commits it to providing you with 99.95% uptime (excluding planned maintenance) and, in the event of a problem, a three hour response time.

Ordinarily a response time commitment is meaningless, as it is often the case that an engineer will be deployed within a contractual time limit, only be unable or ill equipped to deal with the problem at hand. Metronet guarantees only to deploy suitably qualified/equipped engineers and, because it owns its own Metropolitan Area Network, there is no danger of not being able to take immediate remedial action. Unlike other ISPs that are subject to the whims of BT, and often end up in a finger pointing blame exercise prior to addressing the root cause of problems.

Security is paramount, and Metronet guarantees the integrity of your data. This is achieved using a proprietary infrastructure, overlaid with encryption to prevent eavesdropping.

To ensure optimal resilience, Metronet offers an 8Mbps ADSL back up option with services presented via a Cisco 2801 Router that automatically switches service within 15 seconds should your primary circuit fail and automatic restoral to primary service at the earliest opportunity.

Straightforward no nonsense pricing

Simply getting a quotation from an ISP can often be an arduous task. This is largely due to the fact that ISPs are dependent upon BT for the provision of private circuits, upon which they must in turn rely for bandwidth quotations. BT compounds the problem by having to survey individual requirements in order to provide pricing, which is based upon distance from exchanges. Ultimately this can mean you having to wait days, if not weeks, for a quotation, and often months for an installation to be completed.
