Manchester Metronet will terminate your connection with the installation of an 8 port managed Ethernet switch. This allows us to ensure that we can monitor the service at all times.
You will be provided with as many public IP addresses as you require and the installation engineer will ensure that you are provided with a completion document that includes the designated IP range, gateway and DNS settings.
The provision of the managed switch also allows Manchester Metronet to split your bandwidth allocation if required. For example, if you have ordered a 10 Mbps connection you may want 6 Mbps for staff internet access & email and 4 Mbps for remote access users or dedicated business servers. In this scenario Manchester Metronet’s Engineer will configure two separate ports with different IP addresses that will behave as two separate connections.

*Bandwidth in excess of 200Mbps is available. However, Manchester Metronet normally prefers to discuss these requirements directly before providing costs.
*All services are installed using a bearer that is twice the capacity of the bandwidth ordered. For example, if you order a 5 Mbps connection, Manchester Metronet will install a pipe with a minimum of 10 Mbps capacity. This makes any upgrade a simple and speedy process.
